Business Model

Major income from the above business model is composed of (i) fee income (ii) investment returns and (iii) hotel income, which are recurrent or non-recurrent types of income. Our strategic intent is to increase the recurrent income base to build a solid foundation while seeking non-recurrent income opportunities.

Recurrency Income

*The recurrency of income from hotel operation relates directly to the fee we receive for services provided as a hotel operator.

Type of Income Description
Fee Income
Arrangement Fee & Agency Fee Income from arrangement of syndicated loans or debt financing and for the Group's agency duty in finance arrangement transactions. Fee for project management / arrangement is also included.
Brokerage Commission Commission from brokering ship charters on behalf of ship owners and the income is recurrent for the duration of the charter period / agreement.
Incentive Fee Fee received when the assets managed by the Group are divested with a gain and is based on a predetermined profit sharing ratio, in the event the disposal gain exceeds the hurdle rate.
Asset Management Fee & Administration Fee Fee for the administration and management of funds / investments in shipping, properties, and distressed assets as well as for Capital Advisers as the asset manager of hotels and residential properties in Japan.
Charter Income Charter income from vessels in which we directly invest in.
Investment Returns
Realised Gain Gain obtained from disposal of our investment.
Fair Value Adjustment on Investment Gain / loss from fair valuation of our investment in funds / co-investment companies which own vessels and properties.
Interest on Performance Notes Cash distribution of interest on the performance note in which we invest.
Property Rental Lease / rental income from properties in which we directly invest in Japan and China.
Hotel Income
Income from hotel operation Hotel operator fee under operation contract with the hotel owner or operating income derived from hotel operation when hotels are owned by the Group or leased out from the hotel owner.

Value Chain

By performing multiple functions, we secure multiple income sources which increases the value of the company. Fee income is derived from multiple sources in each stage and process of our activities.
