What is Uni-Asia?
We are an alternative assets investment company which provides alternative investment opportunities for investors. With this framework, we perform a variety of roles such as an asset manager, a hotel operator, a co-investor, a finance arranger, and a fund manager. Our aim is to increase our corporate value by providing better investment opportunities for investors.
Our investments focus on commercial vessels and properties in Japan and China. Leveraging on our historical background as a structured finance provider, we have also been creating new types of investment products, which are a private property fund and a private shipping fund.
We have achieved significant progress in creating this unique investment platform. In January 2008, we had increased our stake in Capital Advisers to 92.7% which provides property investment opportunities in Japan. Capital Advisers also has a hotel operating function that is derived from asset management of hotel properties. The hotel operating business is expected to be one of the core functions of Capital Advisers which enables us to increase our corporate value sustainably.
As for commercial vessels, we have launched our first Singapore private ship investment fund in April 2007, by taking advantage of the tax incentive granted under the Maritime Finance Incentive Scheme by Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore.
Uni-Asia Finance Corporation was listed on Singapore Exchange Securities Trading Limited Main Board in August 2007 and our public listing has increased the company's capacity of seeking investment opportunities, as well as strengthened the financial foundation of the company.
Our twenty largest shareholders include international financial institutions in Japan and Europe, major Japanese trading houses and shipping companies which we work closely with in our business. By making use of our wide network in the financial and and maritime-related industries, we have been expanding our business with the support from our business partners.
